Are marijuana candies a good idea for you?

You've been doing it for years: Vape or smoke a bowl of marijuana, then eat some sweets. The high is almost instantaneous and the sensations and tastes you get as you exhale can be described as an entirely new experience.Edibles offer a completely different experience than smoking and vaping. The full-sensory high produced by edibles is very different from smoking. It can last for hours, and symptoms include laughter fits, new appreciation for blankets, and an urge to raid the fridge - if you are able to get up from the couch. For those who don't smoke or can't, edibles such as cookies, candies, and gummies can be a great alternative. These edibles make a great party favor or a way to bribe your guests into going home. These can be handed out to trick-or treaters on Halloween.

How to make edibles: What not to do

Candies are small and delicious, so it's difficult to only eat one. You should be careful when eating edibles. This is a common warning sign: someone who tries an edible for the first-time feels nothing after an hour, and then decides to try a second dose. However, they soon realize that the first dose is already starting to kick in and are stuck in their own version of Candyland. To avoid such mishaps, it is important to start slowly, and to be patient. Even if you only take half of the recommended amount, it is possible to try the edible. However, wait at least one hour before trying more. You'll likely be right where you want to be in an hour and a quarter. Many people believe that edibles can be made by simply adding cannabis flowers to a recipe. Although it won't get your high, there are some benefits. You can decarboxylate cannabis, infuse it with oil, or make a cannabis preparation like a tincture for use in your recipes. This should be obvious: If you make THC lollipops or candies at home, please keep them away from children.

What is decarboxylation?

Decarboxylation refers to a process where cannabis is heated to activate its compounds. This converts the cannabinoid THCA (which is what's in those beautiful nugs, but won't get you high on its own) into THC. It makes it possible to eat cannabis and get high.It is very simple to do. Simply place the cannabis on a baking tray and bake in the oven for around 30-45 minutes at 220-245degF (105-120degC). You should keep an eye on the cannabis to ensure it isn't burning. Crack a window to get rid of the cannabis smell as you decarboxylate.

How to make hard candy

Candy technology has advanced exponentially over the past decades. However, we will keep it simple and stick with the traditional lollipop. Some recipes call for cannabis tinctures, while others suggest that you use cannabutter. This is a simple recipe. It calls for both.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/ 4 cup filtered drinking water
  • 1 tbsp butter, cannabutter
  • 2 tablespoons Cannabis Tincture
  • 2 drops of food color (optional).
  • 1/ 2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 tbsp citrus flavoring or another flavor of your choice

Equipment required:

  • Candy thermometer
  • Candy wrappers
  • Candy molds
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Saucepan

Method

  • Begin by greasing a saucepan using a tablespoon of butter for cannabutter.
  • Mix sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt in a saucepan. Heat the mixture on medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves.
  • You can add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture. Do not raise the temperature. Once the mixture has come to a boil, add the candy thermometer to the mix and allow it to cool to 223-235degF (106-112degC).
  • Mix the cannabis tincture with any flavorings.
  • Slowly pour the mixture into the molds you choose. For lollipops, place a stick in each mold. You can cover the mold with aluminum foil and then punch through the stick to ensure that it holds its shape as the candy hardens.

What strength are cannabis candies really?

Let's end with a discussion about dosing. Your cannabis lollipops' strength will depend on how strong the cannabis preparation you added to them. The potency of your cannabis lollipops will be lower if you use a mild or less potent tincture. The potency can also be reduced by using regular butter rather than cannabutter. However, you might want to make these lollipops for the first time. You can either try a lower dose or take it easy with your first lollipop. You might even try to split one in half to feel how it feels. While lollipops may be more convenient and fun, making small hard candy can be easier and offers more options for customization and dosing. This is especially true for cannabis caramels which are made with cannabutter and easy to portion out.We hope this guide will help you make your own marijuana candies. However, if you don’t want to do the hard work yourself, visit your local marijuana dispensary in Johnson City to buy some of the delicious candies from their menu.
